FASET
Also called Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training
FASET — Fall Arrest Safety Equipment Training — is the trade association and training body for the UK safety netting and temporary safety systems industry. It is not a standards body and it is not a regulator: the product standard for safety nets is BS EN 1263, the law is the Work at Height Regulations 2005, and what FASET provides is membership auditing, training, a card scheme and free industry guidance.
In practice
The distinction is worth being precise about, because trade association guidance and statutory requirement get quoted interchangeably on site and they are not the same thing. In its own words FASET is "the established trade association and training body for the Safety Netting and Temporary Safety Systems Industry", it states that every member undergoes an audit it describes as UKAS and SSiP accredited, and it publishes guidance free to download alongside a training and card scheme — including endorsements added to a CSCS-skilled FASET card. Its published scope covers safety netting, edge protection, stair towers, roof over-netting, tensioned access platforms and platform decking. None of that creates a legal duty on its own. What it does is give a principal contractor a way of checking that the firm about to rig nets over their frame has been audited by somebody, and that the operatives hold a card for the work they are doing — which is a competence question the Work at Height Regulations 2005 ask and do not answer for you.

Where it matters on site
For specifiers the useful test is to treat FASET membership as evidence of competence and the standard and the regulations as the requirements, rather than blurring the two. It matters to us as well, and we should declare the interest: our Safety Net Recovery System won FASET’s health and safety award in 2019, which is on our awards page along with the rest. That is recognition from the trade body for the netting industry for a rescue product, in a sector where the rescue half of the arrangement is the half that most often has nobody responsible for it.
